Rancho Las Positas Elementary School Home
Music

Selected 5th grade students will receive instrumental music instruction during the regular school day. Students are pulled out of their regular classroom twice per week for a 40 minute lesson.

At the beginning of the school year, all interested 5th grade students will take a music survey (listening evaluation) that will determine each student’s eligibility and instrument placement in the program. Each instrumental class size is limited. Placement in music classes is for the entire year. When selecting a music class, parents need to consider the financial and time commitment. Due to budget limitations, no school instruments will be available at the elementary level. All elementary instrumental students will need to provide their own instrument and supplies specified by the teacher.

Students will be responsible for bringing materials to class, practicing regularly at home and attending their evening concerts. Outside practice time requires 15 – 20 minutes per day, 5 days per week.
